Portals to Paradise is a Gold Award winning entry in the Fantasy Garden category at the Singapore Garden Festival 2024, held from 3 to 11 August at Suntec Singapore. Jules Moore was personally invited to compete among top international designers. The garden was constructed over one and a half weeks on site, with long days dedicated to bringing the vision to life.

Set within an 8 m by 8 m mirrored space, Portals to Paradise invites visitors along a winding path flanked by bone white cave structures that evoke clarity and elevated awareness. At the centre, a timber heart sculpture is framed perfectly through aligned portals, representing nature at the core of humanity. A sculptural DNA strand weaves through the trees, highlighting interconnection, while a gentle waterfall flows into a bamboo edged living pond, enriching the sensory experience.

The construction focused on sustainable practices, using eco certified materials such as low VOC finishes, recycled timber for pathways, and Prime Mix 99 Eco for the cave structures. A recirculating waterfall system and rooftop planting structures were integrated with precision to ensure both safety and ecological integrity.

More than 4,000 plants were carefully selected for their texture, symbolism, and emotional impact. Palms and tropical foliage provide structure and vibrancy, while ferns, mosses, epiphytes, and rare species invite curiosity and reflection. The garden is brought to life by a layered soundscape featuring endangered species, Māori instruments, and plant generated frequencies, creating an immersive and emotive atmosphere.

Portals to Paradise blends striking design with a strong sense of purpose, celebrating sustainability, cultural storytelling, and our relationship with the natural world. Recognised as one of the standout gardens of the 2024 festival, it left a lasting impression on visitors through its thoughtful detail and meaningful connection to land, life, and community.
